Don’t be a person who says, “Ready! Aim, aim, aim, aim.” As fast as each opportunity presents itself, seize it! No matter how small the opportunity may be, use it!
Do what you need to do when it ought to be done whether you like it or not. “He who hesitate misses the green light, gets bumped in the rear, and loses his parking space” (Herbert Prochnow).
One of the deceptive beliefs of those who live an unproductive life is that today is not an important day. Everyday comes to us bearing gifts. Untie its bow, tear into the wrapping, open it up. Write on your heart everyday it is the best day of the year.
By the time the hesitant people have learned to play the game, the players have dispersed, and the rules have changed. Don’t find yourself striking when the iron is cold. Instead, scratch opportunity when and where it itches. Life is made up of constant calls to action.
“Successful leaders have the courage to take action while others hesitate” (John Maxwell). You will never know what you can do until you begin. Remember, the moment you say, “I give up,” someone else is seeing the same situation and saying, “My, what a great opportunity.”
No opportunity is ever lost; someone else picks up those that are missed. One secret of success in life is to be ready for opportunity when it comes. Ability is empty apart from opportunity.
Time flies. It’s up to you to be the pilot. “Everything comes to him who hustle while he waits” (Thomas Edison). It has been my observation that productive people get ahead during the time that others waste. Make quick use of the moment.
It is late than you think. Be ready now. Life’s alarm clock has no snooze button. It doesn’t do any good to “Stand up and take notice” if you sit down as soon as opportunity passes by. Look at it, size it up, make a decision. You postpone your life when you can’t make up your mind.
William Ward has this recipe for success: “Study while others are sleeping; work while others are loafing; prepare while others are playing and dream while others are wishing.” There is no time like the present and no present like time. Those who take advantage of their advantage get the advantage in this world. Don’t find yourself at the end of your life saying, “What a wonderful life I’ve had! I only wish I realized it sooner.”
